The Center for Transatlantic Relations at the Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) organized the 4th annual Transatlantic Economic Forum on December 5 and 6 2016, co-organized in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to a range of U.S. companies, political, think-tank, and academic elite, this year’s forum brought together business and political leaders from 13 countries of the larger Mediterranean to discuss economic cooperation, reforms, security challenges, and transatlantic relations.
To inspire further growth in regional and transatlantic cooperation, the CTR Mediterranean Basin recognizes each year business, political, or civil society leaders whose actions and contributions lead towards a stable and prosperous Mediterranean. This year’s “2016 CTR Mediterranean Leadership Award” recipients were: André Azoulay, Senior Advisor to King Mohammed VI of Morocco; Husni Bey, CEO, HB Group (Libya); Hisham Fahmy, President, Am Cham (Egypt); Ali Haddad, The Forum of Entrepreneurs, President and ETRHB CEO (Algeria); Ilija Studen, President, Studen & Co. Holding (Austria); Dusko Knezevic, Atlas Group, CEO (Montenegro).
Previous “CTR Mediterranean Leadership Award” recipients include: Robert Aderholt (U.S. member of Congress); Muhamed Al-Mugariaf (first GNC President of Libya; Beji Essebsi (President of Tunisia); Jeanne Shaheen (U.S. Senator); Rifat Hisarciklioglu, President of TOBB (Turkey).
